The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has released a notification inviting applications for the Joint CSIR NET National Eligibility Test (NET) to be held in December 2023. This exam determines the eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship/Assistant Professor in Indian universities.

Eligibility Criteria for CSIR NET
Educational Qualification
- MSc, MS or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks (General/EWS) and 50% (SC/ST/OBC/PwD).
- Candidates in final year of MSc or enrolled in integrated MS-PhD are also eligible.
Age Limit
- JRF: Maximum 28 years as on 1st July 2023. Relaxation as per government norms.
- Lectureship: No upper age limit
Exam Pattern
- The exam comprises of 3 parts – Part A, B and C. It is a Computer Based Test.
- Part A tests general aptitude and basic science.
- Part B contains subject-related conventional MCQs.
- Part C has higher-order analytical questions testing conceptual knowledge.
Application Fee
- General/EWS: Rs 1100
- OBC/SC/ST: Rs 550
- PwD: No fee
Selection Process
- Written test
- Qualifying candidates will be shortlisted for JRF based on merit.
